Customer Journey

  • Entry for the fitness suite, Badminton, Table Tennis, Short Tennis, Studio 1 , Sports Hall 1 and Sports Hall 2 for general use will be through the Dry side entrance. Entry for Group Fitness classes in Sports hall 1 and Sports Hall 2 will be via Sports Hall 1 fire exit by the car park entrance. Entrance to the Competition Pool will be the main Reception entrance
  • Exits from Sports Hall One, Sports Hall Two, and Studio 1 activities will be through the Fire Exit onto Queens Park Running track. For the Fitness Suite, the exit will be the old Café fire exit beside the Fitness Suite, this will lead onto the Queens Park Track. For Poolside the exit will be the fire exit beside the Leisure Waters which then leads around the Pond onto the main Car Park
  • Customers must sanitise hands on entry and exit.
  • Customers should adhere to social distancing and directional signage while visiting the facility.
  • Various sanitising and cleaning stations are located throughout the facility.
  • Customers should leave the premises as soon as the session is finished following the designated routes.
  • Regular announcements will be made regarding social distancing and regular washing or sanitising of hands.
  • Toilet facilities will be available
  • There is no changing room or locker availability on the dry side of the facility for the gym, classes or sports hall use
  • As the Bistro is closed there are vending machines around the facility to enable customers to purchase water and other drink products
  • Every 3 to 4 hours the Gym and Competition Pool will close for a deep clean


  • All activities must be booked in advance. Bookings via online or by telephone.  All-inclusive and budget members can book up to 7 days in advance, Pay as you go members can book up to 3 days in advance, any payments must be paid in advance.
  • All activities have maximum numbers in place to ensure social distancing can be adhered too.
  • No drop in visits will be accepted so please do not turn up at the facility without booking.
  • Please arrive on time for bookings. Avoid being early as queues should be avoided and if you arrive late access may be denied.

Fitness Room Use

  • Please arrive ‘gym ready’ and wearing the correct attire as showers ,changing facilities and lockers are not in use . Please also note that there is to be no bags taken into the gym , only essential personal belongings.
  • Sessions will be 1hr in duration. Please arrive on time and leave immediately after session. Staff will assist with this process
  • Booking for the Strength and Conditioning area will be a separate booking – Customers will be required to book separately for the gym and for the Strength room, customers will NOT be able to move between the two areas.
  • Please use the hand sanitiser stations prior to gym usage.
  • Customers should clean all equipment before and after use, this includes items such as dumbbells, weight plates and medicine balls. Various cleaning stations are provided throughout the room.
  • Adhere to social distancing – if a machine is in use, avoid the machines directly to either side of this and possibly in front. Some CV equipment will be out of use.  Staff are there to guide you.
  • Max of 20 mins on CV equipment, this may be extended at the discretion of the onsite staff depending on demand.
  • Water fountains/dispensers out of use, please bring your own water or purchase at one of the vending machines
  • If you require a refresh induction of any piece of equipment, please ask a member of staff before using it.
  • The toilets in the gym, and former Café area, are available for customer use
  • Customers will be asked to follow the gym ‘house rules’ these are highlighted at the entry to the gym , customers should read these before starting their session.
  • Customers must hold onto their gym receipt to confirm they have booked in and confirmed their attendance at reception, Customers will be asked to show their receipt to the gym staff upon entry to the gym.
  • When leaving please follow the Facility exit signposts . Please note this may be subject to change

Group Fitness Classes

  • Please arrive ‘class ready’ and wearing correct attire as showers and changing facilities are not in use.
  • Please arrive no more than 10 minutes prior to the class starting
  • Sanitise your hands upon entry to the games hall.
  • Customers to clean all equipment before after use. Equipment sharing is not permitted.  Various cleaning stations are provided around the hall.
  • Class numbers will be limited. Floor markers will outline starting points for customers.  Red, yellow and green spots mark out the correct spacing on the games hall floors. Please follow instructor guidance on what colour you should be standing on for your specific class (Red – High, Yellow – Medium & Green – Low Intensity)
  • High Intensity ClassesBody Attack, Metafit, Body Combat, Body Step, HIIT Fitness, Strong Nation
  • Medium Intensity ClassesKettlebells, Circuits, Fatburn Extreme, PIYO, Zumba, Core X, Jog Scotland, Aerobics, Karate.
  • Low Intensity Classes – Body Balance, Yoga, Pilates, Otago, Aqua Fitness. Body Pump (Stationary class usually Medium intensity), Studio Cycle (Stationary class usually high intensity), Bums and Tums, Ultimate Abs, Unite, Easyline, Sculpt and Tone, Tai Chi, Stretch and Tone, Senior Circuits, 50+ Fitness, Beginners Cycle.
  • On entry to the hall, fill class spaces from the back to the front, thus preventing customers having to pass each other
  • Facility aerobic mats are not available to use for hygiene reasons, please ensure you take your own mat. Mats can also be purchased from reception.
  • Use toilet before class to reduce likelihood of needing to exit mid class as social distancing must be adhered too. Ask staff within the facility to confirm which toilets are accessible.
  • When leaving please follow the Facility exit signposts. Please note this may be subject to change.


  • Please arrive ‘beach ready’ (come ready changed with costume under clothing).
  • HLH encourage customers to shower at home before and after swimming. Showers will be available if required but are limited for quick pre and post swim rinse only.
  • Pool sessions will be either 45 or 60 minutes long.  Entry for each session will be staggered to avoid queuing and assist with social distancing.
  • Initially pools will be used mainly for lane swimming (double width lanes with restricted numbers of 8 per lane and new direction signage in place) and Aquacise only.
  • 2 double width lanes will be available for lane swimming (One fast lane & one slow lane) Please choose appropriate lane for your ability.
  • Pool depth will be variable for customer ability and satisfaction
  • Maintain appropriate social distance between yourself and other swimmers and do not overtake moving swimmers – allow faster swimmers to pass you at the end of the lanes.
  • You must arrive on time. Please be aware you may be denied access to the pool if you are late.
  • Please follow the one way system within the facility, signage in place and ask staff for assistance if required.
  • Changing facilities will be available for pre and post swim use, for a ‘quick change’
  • A number of lockers will be in use for secure storage of your belongings
  • Spectating is not permitted
  • Sauna, steam room and spa are currently not in use.
  • Flume and Leisure Pool are currently not in use.
  • Maintain social distancing while in changing areas, whilst on poolside and when in the water. Avoid stopping for prolonged periods of time at the end of lanes.

Queens Park  – Running Track

  • One hour sessions, must be pre booked
  • Please use the Hand sanitiser stations at the doors to Queens Park before going onto the track
  • Customers must arrive ‘activity ready’ as the changing rooms and lockers are unavailable
  • Access is gained through the dry side reception and follow the one way system in place to Queens Park , and exit is through the gates at Queens park onto the Main Car Park.
