Our popular Heritage in Action Days return for 2019 this summer. On the 11, 18 & 25 July, 1, 8 & 15 August you can enjoy demonstrations across the site of traditional skills, from spinning and weaving to cooking, waulking the cloth, pole lathe and lots more!

Township – Visitors to the township can see a range of traditional crafts including weaving, spinning and pole lathe.

 

 

 

Croft – In our 1930’s Croft visitors can see rope-making in action, listen to traditional accordion music and even have a go at milking Mhairi, our fiber-glass Coo!

Highland Heavyweight – Join Rob Ritchie and John Duncan Macleod on our Shinty Pitch as they demonstrate a range of equipment and tell you a little bit of the history of the Highland Games in the area.

 

Waulking the cloth

Our local Badenoch Waulking group, Comhlan Luadh Bhàideanach will be here each afternoon between 2 – 4pm, either on the picnic area or in the church (weather dependant)

Don’t miss the chance to enjoy traditional waulking songs and maybe even have a go at waulking the cloth yourself!

Coracles on the Sawmill Pond – pop along to the Sawmill Pond in the Pinewoods to hear about how they are made and have a go!

 

 

 

Rag Rug making – Lochanhully House, 11am -1pm & 2pm-4pm

Try your hand at rag rug making and hear about life in the 1950s.
