High Life Highland Active Schools set 12 Days of Christmas Challenge

High Life Highland’s Active Schools Team and Music Tutors have teamed up with School Pupils across the Highlands to offer some online fun festive activities in the lead up to the Christmas Holidays.

The new challenge started today and will be set daily following the theme of the ‘12 Days of Christmas song’.  Active Schools Coordinators will be setting a challenge every day up until Friday 18th of December.

What starts as a simple single challenge on day one will get progressively tougher and by day twelve you will be challenged to complete all 12 activities back-to-back.

The videos will be posted daily on  High Life Highland’s Youtube Page complete with a festive warm up video to be undertaken before taking part in the daily challenges.

Darren Reid, Area Sports Development officer for High Life Highland said, “I hope this will spread a bit of festive fun and keep people moving across Highlands in the lead up to Christmas. School pupils from across the Highlands have supported the making of the videos and we hope they, along with our Music Tutors and Active Schools Coordinators, can inspire a bit of fun festive activity this Christmas season.

The Highland Council are helping to support the project by making the videos available to schools so that they can take part in the 12 days of Christmas Challenge.

Darren continued, “I am delighted that the videos are being made available for schools to take part in the challenge and look forward to seeing everyone sharing their efforts with us.”

Chair of the Council’s Education Committee, Cllr John Finlayson, said: “We are really happy to promote High Life Highland’s 12 days of Christmas challenge with our pupils to encourage as many people as possible to take part and there is no better way to celebrate the lead up to Xmas than by encouraging everyone to be musical and active.

“The videos demonstrate the creative approach of our Partners and schools this festive period and are a great example of promoting positive mental health and physical activity while having fun as we excitedly countdown to Christmas. I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s efforts over the coming days.”
