Hanging Baskets return to brighten up city centre

The Provost and Leader of Inverness and Area Cllr Helen Carmichael recently meet at Ness Bridge in Inverness with Mike Smith Inverness BID Manager and Gordon Brown of High Life Highland to celebrate the 2021 Inverness city centre floral displays.

Provost Carmichael said: “Members of the City of Inverness Area Committee are pleased to support the provision of beautiful flowers to enhance Inverness city centre streets through Inverness Good Common Good funding of £61,100 to Inverness BID.

Through the BID team and the highly skilled green fingered Botanic Gardens staff at High Life Highland they create magnificent floral displays which were much missed last year due to COVID-19”

BID Manager Mike Smith said “Inverness BID is proud to act as co-ordinator of the annual floral project to display 650 hanging baskets in Inverness city centre each summer. These displays give such an uplift to the city centre.

We act in partnership with the Inverness Common Good Fund who are the main funders of the project together with BID.  High life Highland’s staff at the Botanical Gardens are responsible creating and maintaining the wonderful displays.”

Ewan Mackintosh Inverness Botanic Gardens manager for High Life Highland said “It is fantastic to see the displays back in the city centre our team work hard looking after the plants from plugs to the beautiful flowers that finally make up the baskets. The hanging baskets are even more important this year bringing back a sense of normality for everyone to enjoy.”
